Vinodh (Vin) Bhat is a consumer technology entrepreneur. He is a co-founder of Saavn (now JioSaavn), the largest music/audio streaming service in India. Vin has over two decades of experience in the media, entertainment and technology industries and helped define Saavn’s purpose and vision. As founding CEO from 2006-2014 and later as Chief Strategy Officer, he was instrumental in raising capital to finance growth, recruiting talented individuals to join the Saavn team, developing the company’s revenue streams, and building the company’s culture. Reliance Industries’ telecom venture, Jio Platforms Limited, acquired Saavn in 2018 to form JioSaavn. As a JioSaavn Board Member, he provides guidance on new product innovations, advises on expansion opportunities through investments and acquisitions, and helps manage the JioSaavn’s multi-faceted relationships with global technology companies such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon.

Vin is also a Founding Partner at New York City-based venture development firm, 212MEDIA. The ventures incubated at 212MEDIA include BEGiN Learning, creator of early education products and backed by companies such as LEGO, as well as LeagueApps, a youth sports management platform backed by organizations such as Major League Baseball and Contour Ventures.

Prior to Saavn and 212MEDIA, he co-founded Simile Software, a contextual advertising platform that provided software for various business units of Time Warner, Cox Media, Scripps and Hearst. Vin began his career at the investment bank Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) and helped advise and raise capital for major media, telecom & tech companies.

Vin graduated from McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia with B.S. Finance and Marketing. His wife Kalpana is a former senior healthcare executive turned social entrepreneur. Vin’s hobbies and interests include reading, investing, mentoring, tennis, the New York Jets and the New York Yankees and most importantly, spending time with his two children
