David M. Rice is a senior tourism and hospitality executive with over 30 years of leadership and management experience in private and public sectors including tourism, hospitality, government and social service organizations.

Born in Barbados, David has lived and worked in several countries during his professional career, including United States, United States Virgin Islands, United Kingdom, Netherland Antilles and Barbados.

Prior to founding Sunbury International, David held multiple positions for Welk Resort Group, a Vacation Ownership company with properties in San Diego, Palm Springs, Branson, Lake Tahoe and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Vice President of Resort Operations.

David’s tourism experience includes his tenure as CEO Barbados Tourism Authority which he led for four years, as well as his continued experience with the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism, California Travel & Tourism Commission and the United Nations & Tourism Association.

Since 2020, David has been working as an Investment Executive (USA) with Invest Barbados and integrates his extensive multi sector experience in the United States and Caribbean to promote the vibrant culture and diversified growing economy of Barbados as ideal for investment opportunities.

David’s philanthropic efforts include his Vice Chairman Advisory Board role with Humble Design San Diego, a non-profit organization whose mission is focused on changing lives and communities by custom designing and fully furnishing home interiors for individuals, families and veterans emerging from homelessness.

A graduate of Lewis Hotel School, David is a Certified Hotel Administrator, American Hotel & Lodging Institute and Certified Association Manager, State of Florida. He lives in San Diego, CA with his wife Shannon and son Dillon.
